Yet
another feather in the cap of NIBS
Hats
off to Dr. Kedar Ranjan Banerjee, the eminent Psychiatrist
for his consistent perusal of mental health in West Bengal.
Yet another step National Institute of Behaviroual Science,
popularly known as NIBS , has taken for the treatment of Mental
Health of the mass. Dr. Banerjee says that many of us are
victim of psychological disorder. Some of us are aware, where
some of us are not. General awareness should be built up amongst
the common mass about the psychological diseases where scope
of treatment and research are not as popular as other medicinal
streams.
NIBS
with its limited resources has been trying hard to treat the
patients most scientifically where a Psychiatrist, a Psychologist
and a General Physician check up each patient and prepare
a clinical profile before the patients are treated. So long
such steps were taken by NIBS in its own center at 115E, Lenin
Sarani (on Maulali Crossing).
It
was the initiative and dynamism of Mr. Ashim Barman, IAS,
Secretary, Department of Health, Government of West Bengal,
who had given patient hearing to Dr. Kedar Banerjee who has
been running from pillar to post for spreading the scope of
psychological treatment. At the initiative of Mr. Barman,
Government of West Bengal has bestowed confidence on NIBS
to run an exclusive Mental health Out Door at Bidhan Nagar
District Hospital in Salt Lake, Kolkata where the doctors
and team mates of NIBS will treat the patients at the outdoor
regularly using the infrastructure of this Government run
hospital. Not only this, the hospital will act as referral
hospital for psychological treatment for the patients around
Salt Lake area.
This
is for the first time there has been a rapport between the
government and an NGO to work under one platform. Dr. Banerjee
told our spokesman that this all had happened for the support
of all but the contribution and initiative of Mr. Ashim Barman
would ever be remembered.
