Our Bureau, Kolkata, Dec 13 - The noted psychologist DR. Kedar Ranjan Banerjee was felicitated recently by Agnisikha, north Kolkata based sports and cultural organization for his exemplary work with the mentally sick for more than a decade. The felicitation ceremony along with a musical programme of Modern Bengali Song was arranged on December 9 at mahajati Sadan. At the beginning of the musical evening, felicitation ceremony was conducted. Dr. Banerjee was awarded with a Cheque of Rs. 5,000, a trophy and flower bouquet.

Dr. Banerjee narrated his experience in administering psychological therapy in most modern manner. He even mentioned that music plays a vital role in administering treatment to many of the patients. Modern Song was performed by Chandra Bindu (Band Music) and Pratik Chowdhury at the end.

There have been instances where a player involved in a team game have been self centered, emotional immaturity, disturbed reality orientation attitudes which are hindrance in improving the individual's performance. The authorities of NIBS though are however confident to handle them successfully if given scope. Psychologists while analyzing the survey refer to the poor economic background of most of the players, which is the driving force behind the alarming stress factor. It has been found that the trainees here are always fighting for survival and aims mostly to support the family. But this is not the case for all. Some amount of psychological assistance would help them in utilizing their potential. In order to get technical assistance, sports person in India required to prove the aptitude towards the event of SAI, but for the rest, the authorities relies on miracles………….. A country, whose highest sporting body neglects the psychological factor, one can rarely ask the same from others. Every sporting event in our country has turned out a game by experts without the mental framework factor.
